My programmer is not currently on your list of supported devices. Do I have to purchase a more up-to-date programmer to support my device?
No. Your programmer will receive free software updates to support the latest processors. No hardware change is required. Hi-Tronic has released their source code and we will be collaberating with interested parties to further develop the product. If you're interested please take a look at the development progress at Sourceforge.org
In the event that I wire my circuit incorrectly, will I damage my computer?
The USB controller inside your computer automatically detects current spikes and will shut down the device in such an event. The USB programmer also comes with a fast-acting fuse in case your computer's USB controller fails to shut down the device.
What should I do if the Hi-Tronic programming software fails to detect my programmer?
Ensure that your computer's connection to the programmer is not loose and that the power indicator LED on the programmer is lit. If the LED is on, disconnect the device, and wait 10 seconds before reconnecting. If the LED is off, check to make sure your USB controller hasn't shut down. To do this:
1) Right click on "My computer" on your desktop and select Properties.
2) In the hardware tab, click on Device Manager.
3) Scan the list for Universal Serial Bus Controller and expand the list.
4) Double-click on your USB Hub and ensure the device is working correctly and is enabled. If the device is disabled, re-enable it (you may have to restart your computer).
What should I do if my circuit is correct but the software fails to read the correct device ID?
Typically, this problem is caused when your circuit is incorrectly wired. If your circuit is correct, you may have the wrong processor selected from the list. If both your circuit and processor settings are correct, your IC may have been damaged (static discharge). If your particular processor is not listed but a similar device is listed, you may attempt to program the device by disabling the device ID check.
